At dawnbreak, Bodhi and Zarathustra climb down the cliff, and follow the path until a lone swan blocks their way into the Field of Freethinkers. Zarathustra addresses him:

why are you here

surely you are lost

do you wish to be eaten

do you know the cost

The swan replies:

i’m mathematics

in this field of science

where reason is king

and god meets defiance

home of the wolves

yet they allow me to stay

i left the grove behind

to numbers i now pray

guided by logic

by scientific theories

equations and shapes

rational inquiries

but we must stay alert

for the divine’s creep

for even pure numbers

can turn us to sheep

Mathematics motions further down to the path to a huge mound in the Field. The travelers approach and walk to the other side. As they do, a wolf pack scurries into Atheist’s Den. One of them stops, turns to the guests, and says to Bodhi:

i am god not great

welcome to our atheist den

where minds are unshackled

from the faithful once again

ideas are ammunition

words are the fired shot

religion poisons everything

we will not bow or be bought

however you have come

at an unfortunate time

one of ours is captured

secular nation is his crime

Bodhi responds, concerned:

yes, founding father

came to the megachurch

thou shalt ordered his arrest

his patriotism they did besmirch

God Not Great replies:

so you were there

we only recently heard

elders just meet to discuss

action has been deferred

please enter here

into belief’s dead end

where relativity and quantum

will make your mind bend

God Not Great motions for Bodhi to enter the Den while he and Zarathustra wait outside.
