The sun has not yet risen when the Ridge of Revelation begins to stir one day before the election. Across the Mountain of Mortality, the image from the rally spreads like fire in dry grass. Church bells ring. The dragon lives.
Inside campaign headquarters, lights have burned all night. Inflame Fury, Pure Nation, Seven Mountains, Zero One, and Silent Capital stand studying the numbers as they shift hour by hour.
The door opens and TS enters. For a moment no one speaks while screens display the photograph.
Inflame Fury steps forward and says:
the moment shifts the board
when chance rewrites the play
a wound can crown a ruler
if we move fast today
fear bends the crowd to order
when history cracks the air
this shot becomes the lever
that lifts you to the chair
Silent Capital gestures toward the financial dashboards and adds:
the markets sense a victor
long before votes are cast
corporate hands will follow
the man they think will last
send word that heaven spared you
and capital will align
the engines of the mountain
already wait your sign
Pure Nation taps the valley map where immigrant communities glow red and continues:
the foreign hand that fired
confirms what many claim
a nation under siege
must purify its frame
fear gathers in the valleys
where strangers fill the land
one spark of righteous anger
can purge by command
Zero One watches the image of the dragon on the screen and says:
the cavern waits beneath us
where silence must be sealed
the mind that conquers chaos
still lies beneath the field
the myth that rises now
will open every gate
send word that heavens chose you
and we can build our fate
Finally Seven Mountains speaks, his tone steady and assured:
your prophecy will spread
through pulpit, wire, and phone
declare the hand of heaven
and seal what god has shown
TS studies the numbers climbing across the screens. He asks:
the mountain wakes in rumor
yet crowds are quick to stray
will faith survive the sunrise
beyond the rising day
Inflame Fury answers immediately:
belief becomes momentum
once strength appears in view
the man who walks from death
becomes the myth they knew
Seven Mountains places a tablet on the table with a carefully negotiated and constructed unsent message that says:
a bullet sought my life
from beyond our shore
perhaps the lord preserved me
to guard this land once more
TS departs to the study for a moment of reflection. The advisors read the message, again, as the cursor blinks at its end.
Pure Nation grins when he reaches the second line. He wanted something darker, but this suffices to justify the Mountain’s cleansing. Seven Mountains has what he needs to rally the evangelicals. With those in place, money and technology follow.
TS enters the study, where he once watched his father rule the Ridge, and sits behind the old oak desk. He peers calmly out the window at the Weeping Willow.
After a long breath, he rises and approaches the hearth where the dragon’s crest rests above the stone mantel. He stares for a while and then catches its reflection off a grand mirror on the opposite wall.
TS says to the dragon crest:
you coil around this mountain
as if to guard its breath
yet men who rule by terror
are crowned by fear of death
The Dragon, within TS’s mind, answers:
the herd cannot face silence
nor stare into the night
they build thrones from terror
then call chains a right
TS responds:
if freedom breeds confusion
and doubt dissolves command
then someone must become
the law that binds the land
The Dragon answers:
the throne is never given
to hearts that shrink from flame
become the will they worship
and you shall inherit my name
TS turns from the hearth and faces the mirror. As the sun breaks over the Ridge, light floods the room. The dragon’s crest lifts behind him, its wings unfurling in fire, seemingly crowning him. TS looks out the window at his new kingdom and says:
if none will bear the burden
and chaos claims the field
then i will take the mantle
and make the mountain yield
TS returns to the conference room and all eyes return to him. TS says calmly:
the mountain calls for order
its people fear the night
i accept the crown of duty
to set this mountain right
TS nods to Seven Mountains. As the morning’s first light touches the Ridge, the Mountain awakens to its dragon king.
